SpudCast #13 - Keeping notes of your ideas

Creative ideas pop in my head at the most inopportune times: at work, in the shower, in the car, on a date. Instead of scribbling notes on scraps sheets of paper or leaving myself messages on my cellphone, I use-- of course-- a Moleskine notebook (http://www.moleskine.com).

On today's show, I share with you a Moleskine hack I found on the Internet (I forget where) customized to my use.

In a nutshell, I divide the book into sections; one for ideas for my blog, my book, comics, etc. Each section are divided using book darts (http://www.bookdarts.com).

Today's show is also a soundseeing tour as I walk to the train station on a very early day of work. Sorry about the wind...

It happened all out of the blue: I was scanning the shortwave bands for something interesting to listen to while I drew improv comics and I stumble upon a Spanish-language numbers station.

...And I immediately decided to podcast about it.

It's been a week since I read the final Harry Potter book and I use that to explain the benefits of creating a profile and history for your characters. Don't worry, there are no spoilers.

Like all podcasters new to the hobby, my first number of episodes are a hard listen. Today's is no exception. This is a rather long and mundane show as I drone on a bit and I also had a little trouble keeping my stuttering under control. I hope the content I provide is helpful to you. I promise I will make my future shows more entertaining.

SpudCast in Paris - episode 2

My second episode originally recorded on May 17, 2007 in my hotel room in stunning, sexy Paris, France. Instead of talking about my illustration work, I babble on and on about Paris. Beautiful, beautiful Paris.

Please note, this isn't a soundseeing tour. It is just me experimenting with "off the cuff" recording from inside my hotel room. You can hear the sounds of Paris from open window, but that's about it.

The inaugural episode recorded in one of the most beautiful cities in the whole wide world-- PARIS! Except it's only me in my hotel room. Orignally recorded May 15, 2007.

Aside from introducing what my podcast will be about, I also briefly talk about meeting up with my pen pal for the first time in over 15 years and of course, Paris.

I am a cartoonist who is working on self-publishing a graphic novel while I have a day job. This podcast is my progress report. I also will talk about character design, animation, writer's block and other topics which interest me such as fitness and social media.
